Greetings from the Nitijela of the Republic of the Marshall Islands. We are quite enthusiastic to begin construction of the Nitijela’s official website funded by the United Nations Development Program's RMI Parliament Support Project.

A strong government does not grow from good intentions; it is the result of hard work, strong leadership, transparency, careful analysis of the needs of our constituents, and effectual decision-making around key issues by the Nitijela membership, your entrusted lawmakers. Creating effective legislation involves continuous improvement that is based on constantly reviewing the unique needs, challenges, goals, and vision for our country.

An essential part of any successful Government action is an understanding by the people as to the root of the problem and the remedies to be applied. Therefore, political passion and prejudice should have no part. As Speaker, my personal objective is to work together to build a bipartisan coalition with one goal in mind: to do what is right for the people of the Marshall Islands.

The objective of this website is to bring increased awareness to the importance of giving the general population access to government policy and law-making and encourage new heights of governmental transparency.

The website will be updated regularly while under construction. Currently, if you will search the media link, you will find video of the Opening Ceremonies for Parts I and II of the 27th Constitutional Regular Session 2006 and audio of the 28th Constitutional Regular Session 2007.

I would like to thank my colleagues and the people of the Republic for your ongoing support and prayers as we face our country’s challenges and share its successes together.

Jurelang Zedkaia
Speaker of the Republic of the Marshall Islands
